Dr Gabriela Coman-Enescu
More than 25 years of experience in international disarmament, with focus on chemical weapons, non-proliferation issues, and arms control; experienced in setting up and implementing assistance and cooperation programmes in the areas of expertise; PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Chemistry & Technical Military Academy, Bucharest, Romania; and M.Sc. in Organic Technology.
Lecturer on CBRNe literature and treaties; offered guidance and advice on education and awareness on the management of chemical risks, preparedness for and consequence management of incidents involving toxic chemicals; worked as Senior Chemical Demilitarisation Officer for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (1997- 2012) in The Hague, the Netherlands; and later as consultant played a substantial role in the unique undertaking carried out by the OPCW and its partners for the elimination of the Syrian chemical weapons; and provided expert and technical advisory support for the conclusion and implementation of bilateral/multilateral arrangements for implementation of CWC.
